Will Ye Go Lassie Go". Frohe Weihnacht, Ola

We wish everybody a Merry Christmas.

Since all „Irish-Scottish-Wiehnacht“ shows had to be cancelled, we recorded an almost forgotten Scottish song and because this is a very special Christmas we invited a few children to help us record it. „The Royal Mile“ is a song by songwriter Gerry Rafferty whose father was Irish and his mother was Schottish. He was born in Paisley, 11 kilometres east of Glasgow. This is the place in which Robert Tannahill was born in 1774 who wrote the poem „The Braes of Balquhidder“. Many of you know it as „Will Ye Go Lassie Go“. The tenor Kenneth McKellar is also from Paisley. I first heard „Uist Tramping Song“ in his version. I think Gerry Rafferty is a great choice. For a moment he lets us immerse in a feeling of yearnig for something good that has passed … Merry Christmas, Ola
